Christantus Uche Fuels Straightforward Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Even though entering their maiden European campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Without key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding result that all but guarantees them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another three points in their next match against Finnish KuPS ought to be enough to secure direct entry to the knockout stages, especially following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This match offered a platform for some of Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

The Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season were no match against a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

Control Established from the Start

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.

Midfielder Adam Wharton went close soon after, driving a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee waved away the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.

The home side were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
